Purpose of the Master’s Degree Program is the training and qualification of Chemical Scientists of high postgraduate level who will contribute to the advancement of chemical science and rapidly developing technology. Also, the training of competent executives for strategic sectors of Public Administration, Research Institutes and Industry to meet the development needs of the country.
The Master’s Degree Program awards a Master’s Degree Dipmola in “Chemistry” in the following specializations:
1. Analytical Chemistry, Environmental and Food Chemistry and Technology.
2. Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Materials Technology – Epistemology.
3. Synthetic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioactive Compounds.
The duration for the awarding of the Postgraduate Diploma is defined in four (4) semesters of study.
Graduates of the Departments of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Environment, Physics, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Medicine, Geology and Veterinary Medicine of the Universities of the country or recognized foreign equivalent institutions are accepted. Graduates of Philosophy and Pedagogy and Pedagogical Departments of higher education are exclusively admitted to the 2nd course in the “Epistemology” section.
The total number of ECTS credits required for the award of the Master’s Degree Diploma they amount to one hundred and twenty (120). The courses, teaching and research work, practical exercises and any other kind of educational and research activities for the awarding of the Master’s Degree Diploma are defined as follows: For the awarding of the Master’s Degree Diploma compulsory attendance and a successful examination in courses and laboratory courses with a total load of 72 ECTS credits are required, with the following conditions: a) four (4) to six (6) courses of the specialization chosen by the student, b) two (2) ) laboratory courses of the specialization chosen by the student, c) two (2) courses from the offered modules of the Master’s Degree Program apart from the specialization chosen by the student and d) the Laboratory Research laboratory. The courses and laboratory courses are distributed over the first three semesters (A’, B’ and C) and are credited with thirty (30) ECTS credits per semester for the first two semesters (A’ and B’). Semester C is reserved for Laboratory Research (12 ECTS) and the start of the Master’s Thesis (18 ECTS). The 4th semester is available exclusively for the preparation of the Master’s Thesis and the successful examination of the student in it and is credited with thirty (30) ECTS credits.
